On 14th October 2024, the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, visited Kholongo multipurpose dam site, to appreciate level of progress.

In his briefing to the members, the Chief Executive Officer of Central Region Water Board, Eng. John Makwenda, highlighted the project's progress and appreciated the timely disbursement of funds by the Ministry of Finance. He expressed confidence in meeting project timelines.

Looking ahead, Eng. John Makwenda outlined plans to replicate the success of the Kholongo model in other districts in the region. Future projects in Kasungu, Dwangwa, and Dowa aim to replicate these achievements, ensuring water security and enhancing agricultural productivity through similar multipurpose dam installations.

Reflecting on the project's impact, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Werani Chilenga MP, expressed satisfaction with its progress and advocated for similar initiatives in districts like Kasungu, Mchinji and Ntchisi. The project's funding by the government signifies a commitment to improving livelihoods through sustainable water infrastructure.
