The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Hon. Liana Kakhobwe Chapota, MP, presided over Tree Planting Function for Central Region Water Board on 25 February, 2023 in Mchinji. There was a representation from the office of the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, as well as other Directors from the Ministry. She also visited the water works at the Boma.

The Board Chairman, Mr. Eddison Mombera and other Directors, Management and Staff from other Schemes, participated.

In her remarks, the Deputy Minister appreciated the roles played by various stakeholders in preserving the Natural Forestry Reserves in Mchinji Hills. She encouraged the general public to take part in environment management.

On water supply challenges, the Deputy Minister was hopeful that the current short-term interventions, will ease supply challenges and that, when the lasting solution of dam construction materializes, Mchinji Town and the surrounding areas, will forget about intermittent water supply.
